Fresh from a hugely successful invasion of America in 2015, Germany’s top comedian, Michael Mittermeier, makes a highly anticipated return to the shores of the UK this year with a spanking new version of his much-loved show, das Blackout.
And, let’s face it, who is better placed to comment on the world and its current affairs than someone whose ancestors were dumb enough to try and rule it?
das Blackout is an insider’s guide to Earth’s final frontier: the eerie yet fascinatingly dark landscape of the German soul (a mysterious place, where guilt, Schadenfreude and bratwurst co-exist alongside Nietzsche and Goethe) and what it was like to grow up in 70’s Germany in the midst of Bavarian Lederhosen punk, Austrian nuclear intelligence, zombie invasion and cosmic scientific hijackers. But don’t panic, Michael and his fellow Germans are totally confused at the moment – the whole world nowadays is fleeing into and not away from Germany. But the good news is that after a chat with his friend Angela, Michael is now more than happy to let all British refugees into his show…
